The Difference of One Degree

One degree can make all the difference, for better or for worse. At 111˚F water is just hot bath water...at 112˚F water boils and creates steam. The energy in that steam can be harnessed for all kinds of purposes.

If you are bushwhacking through the forest with a map and compass, one degree off the mark can get you lost and in some serious trouble. The point here is that small changes can have an enormous impact and we can use that knowledge to our advantage.

Change is hard

Let’s face it, change is hard. Big changes are especially hard but small changes are usually more manageable. Small changes, even one degree, extended over a long enough period of time can have a significant impact in your life.

Have you ever decided that you were going to make a big change in your health habits? For example, deciding to change your diet and eat nothing but organic unprocessed foods and never eating anything that isn’t pure and healthy. That is not very realistic if  you’re not accustomed to eating that way.

However, could you gradually cut back on the soda you drink or the sugar in your coffee? How about eating a salad with your dinner or trying some healthier salad dressings.  These are small changes, but if you make it a consistent part of your lifestyle and you make 3-4 changes a year they really start to add up.

Changing Direction

Look at your life and where it’s going, do you like the direction or would you like to make a change? It may seem impossible and overwhelming to get to where you want to go, but maybe it is possible. What could you do today that would help you move towards your goal? Stick with it until it is no longer a challenge but just something you do. Once you’re successful pick something else and repeat the process over and over as many times as you need to in order to reach your goals.
